Desert Biofuels In Their Words

Desert Biofuels Initiative was founded by Eric Johnson and Brad Biddle and seeks to serve as a template for leading edge biofuel research, grassroots organization, and policy lobbying for local, sustainable biofuel development. Currently, Desert Biofuels is working in Arizona in conjunction with government, academic and commercial actors, on an algae demonstration plant to produce algae-based biofuel from “test tube to fuel tank.”

OVO was consulted to develop a brand identity for Desert Biofuels, which would lend credibility and distinction, particularly in legislation and advocacy efforts. The geometric leaves communicate a clean transparency, the warmth and energy of fuel, and the collective, community aspect of the initiative. Typography reinforces the notion of a modern source of energy with definite technology overtones.
